One of the things you notice as you read Gellner is that he frequently points out what nationalism is, and almost as frequently uses slightly different descriptions. Consider the many different descriptions he offers as you consider the question: what is “nationalism” for Gellner? Look at pages: 1-7, 18, 43, 53, 57, 73, 87, 95, 125.
